Weavers Women working in the village of Seraya in Karangasem, Bali, have been weaving fabrics for generations. There are around 50 women actively weaving in Seraya. The complete process of producing each fabric takes between two and three months. The cotton is grown in gardens in Seraya, harvested and hand spun using traditional spinning wheels, and dyed using plants harvested from gardens in and around Seraya. Each piece of fabric is woven by a single woman, on a manual loom, sometimes working together or alone in their own homes. In the village of Seraya, weaving provides one of the main source of income for the women and their families.

Collection This fabric is unique, patterns are broadly similar, although you will find subtle differences in each piece. In Bali this “rangrang” fabric is worn by women during Dewa Yadnya ceremonies. It can also be wrapped around the upper body as in Seraya Village, used as a throw, worn as a scarf and hung as a decoration. Rangrang comes from the Balinese word for space as the slit tapestry weave used to make this fabric creates an open pattern.

Authenticity Each piece of fabric includes a certificate of authenticity, embossed with a stamp to guarantee authenticity.

Delivery Each piece of fabric is professionally packaged to ensure it arrives on your doorstep in perfect condition.
